Where did my mojo go?

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything creative. I mean really creative—because, sure, I’m still going to work, doing the essentials like shopping, and lately, a bit of socialising with friends.

These past few months have been… weird and uncertain. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way. Let’s be honest, this year didn’t exactly start off great. But hey, I’m crossing my fingers tightly that things will get better.

So, where did my mojo go?

I have to admit, all this uncertainty really knocked my motivation. I made so many plans about how much I’d create this year, but somehow none of it happened. The energy just wasn’t there.

But that’s all behind me now. I’m ready to start fresh—I just need to manage my time better.

To kick things off, I started with cleaning, reorganising, and tidying up my little creative corner—the space where I usually dive into new projects. Sometimes, giving your workspace a little refresh is exactly the push you need. It’s almost like hitting the reset button.

New inspiration

Sometimes, trying a new hobby, craft, or skill gives me that extra kick to jump back into crafting with fresh enthusiasm. That’s exactly what happened this time!

I treated myself to a new tool to expand my skills—a small microwave kiln for glass fusing.

My first attempts at glass fusing were pretty encouraging. Of course, nothing went perfectly, but for a first try, I think I nailed it—or at least that’s what I keep telling myself!

One big lesson I learned was that not all glass is the same. Different types melt at different temperatures, and some even change or lose their colour completely.

The pieces ended up with sharp edges so I decided to grind those edges down, wrap the pieces in copper foil, and solder them like stained glass.

I’m really happy with how this little experiment turned out!

There will be times when you just don’t feel like doing anything, and that’s totally okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Creating is all about having fun and enjoying what you do. Sometimes, the best thing is to take a break, explore the internet for inspiration, or watch video tutorials on making something new.

You never know — a simple DIY might spark the idea for your next project!
